Mission

What is Mission?

Our mission comes from the Great Commission - Matthew 28 v 19 & 20:

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Currently, in our fast-changing society, some people are struggling to connect with the existing patterns of church and many established churches have seen a fall in numbers.

On the positive side, God is raising up a new generation of pioneers who seek to go to where the church isn’t, do what Jesus does, and see what happens. Pioneering is about risk-taking, about being willing to be sent beyond the fringe of the church to advance the Kingdom in new and creative ways.

Often these new communities of faith can look quite different to existing patterns of church. That said, sometimes pioneering is about being catalysts of change, and about helping to transition a church into new things, bringing new life and growth through a more missional approach.

Small Churches' Support

Our Regional Ministers seek to support, energise and encourage congregations in their outreach and community connections.

The YBA are wanting to work with our churches to see revitalisation in our communities.

We want to equip and release confident disciples who find talking about Jesus part of the normal, everyday practice not stressfull, not exceptional just the usual part of God’s place in our life.

We have a number of tools that we use to help communities think through what that might look like. Mission Shaped ministry, LiCC’s  Whole Life Discipleship, Big Life and more are all frameworks that we know churches have found helpful in developing mission accessible and fruitful for all.

LICC say: "We have a dream that every Christian would go out into their bit of God's world confident that God can work through them, confident that Jesus is good news for the people they meet, good news for the things they do, good news for the organisations they engage in."

We are open to working in learning communities with churches, or on an individual church basis, to best help equip us in revitalising mission and focus in our setting. Get in touch with your Regional Minister if this might be something that would benefit your community.
