The Home Mission (HM) Fund is the main way in which the Baptist family provides grants for local churches and ministers, supports the three specialist national teams and funds the thirteen Regional Associations.

Each year the annual appeal encourages churches to give 5% of their general income to the Home Mission Fund. This is usually done through the Association Office, though some churches give directly to the fund and a growing number of people make individual gifts.

Our combined giving allows for

GRANTS

Grants to local churches to increase their capacity for mission or to provide seed money to plant a new congregation or pioneer a new initiative.

There are many wonderful stories of Home Mission funded initiatives with more than £1.5 million providing 200 grants to energise local mission across the Baptist family in England and Wales.

SUPPORT SPECIALIST TEAMS

Supporting three Specialist Teams based at Didcot who together resource churches through legal, ministries, and finance support. Additionally, representing the wider Baptist family by engaging with Government and speaking out on matters of faith.

FUNDING

Funding thirteen Regional Associations who are engaged in missional development, alongside the ongoing work of supporting churches, their ministers and families.

Many people often say that Home Mission is the family purse that provides resources for our shared work, and to that end it is essential for how we work together.

In Yorkshire, we benefit from being net receivers of Home Mission - which means we get more back from the central pot than what we put in. For that we are very thankful for the generosity of churches outside of our region. However, we also are one of the largest givers per capita out of all Associations - which means our folk put more into the pot, per head, than most others do, so a big thank you for your generous giving to the Baptist family.
