What is the Candy Cane Story/Mystery?
This is an initiative designed to be an ordinary and easy way to start talking about Jesus this Christmas.
There are so many testimonies from churches across the region who utilised these resources in 2023. Secure your Candy Canes and cards and utilise the resources on this web page.
What is the ‘Candy Cane Mystery’ initiative?
Watch the video and find out!
This Christmas the YBA is again committed to helping start conversations, we want to help build connections, we want to help share the hope of Jesus in a simple and easy way.
How? Using a simple Candy Cane. It’s an ordinary and easy way to start talking about Jesus this Christmas
The YBA and Arise Sheffield will provide you with everything you need for your church to enable you to feel confident in giving it a go.
All you have to do is have fun using the candy canes as conversation starters, give someone a small gift, and then have a chat about the ‘mystery’ of the candy cane sweet.
It’s simple, it’s accessible, and it’s for everyone. The candy canes, suggested conversation starters, a website link and QR code, even banners or posters, are all available free for your church.
This year we would love to help your church have easy, ordinary and accessible ways to talk about Jesus. That is what the ‘Candy Cane Mystery’ initiative is all about.

Candy Canes
The YBA are supporting the cost of tubs of Candy Canes and their accompanying cards for our member churches.
Each tub contains 250 Candy Canes.
One tub of 250 can be ordered for a minimal cost of £5, and subsequent tubs can be ordered at £17.50 per tub.
Our partner ‘Arise Sheffield’ are helping to co-ordinate Candy Cane orders.

Video Explanation
Sharing the Candy Cane Mystery with your church.
Poster
Download a poster (formatted for A3 or A4) to display in your church building/church notice board and places such as local community notice boards.
Post card
Download a postcard (6 x 4 inches) to get printed yourselves, to support your communications.
A quality local printer is Instaprint and would recommend single sided, 250gsm uncoated so that people can write notes on if they wish
Craft
The file includes instructions and collage template that can be used to discuss the different elements of the candy cane and how they point to Jesus. The file can be downloaded as a pdf. Some images are in colour, but the file has been designed to work well printed in black and white if prefered. The file is 3 A4 pages.
Website
This Website is the destination for people who we talk to about the Candy Cane Mystery… When someone scans the QR code or goes directly to the website this is where it will be unpacked further and they have the opportunity to request prayer or find a Christmas gathering near them.
You can place a link to this on your website and across your social media.
