YBA Assembly 2023 - Marking 100 years!
Date: Saturday April 29th, 2023.
Time: 10am to 4pm.
Venue: New North Road Baptist Church, New North Parade, Huddersfield, HD1 5JU.
A great day was had as we looked back with thankfulness for all that the Lord has done over the last 100 years and looked forward with hope, seeking opportunities for planting, revitalising and reimagining in Yorkshire.
Sharing the day with us as keynote speaker was Revd David Coffey OBE - many folk remember him from his time as Baptist Union General Secretary and President of the Baptist World Alliance, as well as through his links with BMS World Mission.
Alongside enjoying praise and worship together, a number of short seminars took place offering opportunities to hear encouraging and challenging stories, as we looked to the future with optimism.
The seminars embraced the YBA’s vision of making disciples through multiplying healthy churches across Yorkshire through planting, revitalising and reimagining. They were:
Becoming and building a multi-ethnic church, the opportunities, the challenges and the practical steps that help, led by Regional Minister Revd Nike Adebajo.
Everyone can be a disciple maker – Biglife and disciple-making movements, led by Discipleship Enabler Revd Peter Dunn.
YBA stories of planting and pioneering: learning from the experiences of ordinary churches experimenting in pioneering and planting, hosted by Regional Minister Revd Kez Robinson.
Revitalisation: turning churches from struggling to flourishing, led by Regional Team Leader Revd Graham Ensor.
Church Planting – How the St Hild Centre for Church Planting provides training and empowering for ordinary churches to plant new churches, led by Regional Minister, Pioneering and Church Planting Revd Alex Harris.
Reflections from the past that will empower our future, hosted by Regional Team Leader Revd Graham Ensor with input from Revds Keith Jones, Tony Peck and Ernie Whalley.
Healthy churches listen well, hosted by Regional Minister Revd Nike Adebajo with input from Revds Jo and Andy Williams from the Blackley Centre.
