ONE of our ministers, the Revd Dr Robin Routledge at Rotherham Baptist Church, has been busy putting together a series of sessions giving a survey of the Old Testament - initially for the church but he would like to share them with others who are interested.
Robin says: "Many people find the Old Testament difficult and not directly relevant to the contemporary church. It is, though, an important part of Christian Scripture. In this series of talks, which is based on many years of writing and teaching about the Old Testament, and, in particular on my Old Testament Theology: A Thematic Approach and Old Testament Introduction: Text, Interpretation, Structure, Themes, my intention is to help make the Old Testament more accessible.
The dozen or so sessions, each lasting between 25 and 35 minutes give a brief survey of the significance, background, content and key theological themes of the Old Testament, and consider, too, how its principles may be re-applied to make them relevant to the lives of Christian believers today."
