Emotional Rollercoaster - Emotional Wellbeing and First Aid Webinar

Emotional rollercoaster logoJODIE THORPE, the YBA's Children, Youth and Families Enabler, writes:
"WE are really pleased to host a great training webinar for all our YBA churches with Rae Morfin, Head of Therapeutic Practice at TLG - Transforming Lives for Good.
Our Baptists Together Children, Youth and Families Round Table, have partnered with TLG to present the "Emotional Rollercoaster - Emotional Wellbeing and First Aid Webinar", which will run on Zoom on Wednesday 3rd February from 7pm to 9pm.

We believe this is essential training for our churches, not just for those working with young people but for everyone working with vulnerable people.
 The free webinar will include:

  • Taking care of our own emotional health - understanding how the brain works in regards to stress and what our emotions are signalling to us.
  • The 3 steps of ‘Emotional First Aid’ - how can we spot emotional distress in others and how can we safely respond.  For further information click here.

Explore the ‘Emotional Rollercoaster’ resource - 15 sessions for 8-14 year olds that explore emotional health and wellbeing.  This resource (given to all attendees as part of this training) offers therapeutic responses, approaches and activities to explore emotional health and is especially relevant at present for supporting children and young people who have been impacted by lockdowns and COVID-19.  For further information click here.

Jodie ThorpeJodie adds: “This training has given me more confidence to respond appropriately to individuals in distress, without pretending to be an ‘expert’, but simply wanting to be Christ-like in my approach.  Although the ‘Emotional Rollercoaster’ resource is promoted as relevant for older children, I believe there is much that could be adapted for all-ages, and this training is therefore appropriate for everyone who wants to develop a toolkit for responding to those in distress or who are anxious.”
