ALTHOUGH the opportunities for us to meet in person are much reduced at present, excellent safeguarding practice continues to underpin all that we do. We know that many churches have stepped up to provide additional support and care for those in their local communities – food banks, telephone pastoral care, online prayer meetings and youth groups – all mean that churches are faced with new safeguarding situations alongside all of those that normally form part of church life.
We’re pleased to be able to bring you news of a new safeguarding update film which has been put together by our national BUGB safeguarding team. This is offered to you as a temporary measure until we are able to safely offer face to face training sessions again.
The film covers the key points of both Level 2 and 3 training, and is accompanied by a Resources Pack which can be downloaded. Specific guidance is also included about the impact of Covid-19 and the ways in which churches might respond to safeguarding concerns.
The film acts as an update for those who have attended BUGB safeguarding training in the past, and it also serves as a helpful introduction to safeguarding for anyone who might be new to a church based role alongside the Gateway to Safeguarding booklet which can be found at (link here).
After viewing the film and working through the “Stop and Consider” points raised through it, we are anticipating that you may have further questions to ask.
