News & What's On

Assembly 2019REGIONAL Minister the Revd Dr Clive Burnard writes:-
"Not long now until the YBA Assembly comes to Huddersfield! The Assembly takes place on Saturday, June 8th, at New North Road Baptist Church, Huddersfield.

We are delighted to welcome the new President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain as our keynote speaker- his theme and ours is: “Where do we grow from here? Changing church culture one degree at a time.”

We will have three seminars, with each taking place twice – Growing Visionary Leadership; Growing in Compassion and Growing Whole-Life-Disciples."

Growing Whole-Life Disciples: (Ken Benjamin)
BUGB President Ken will seek to share some of his extensive experience as a church pastor, teacher on Whole Life Discipleship and gifted, proven leader, particularly in terms of shaping a church to make its focus one of developing disciples who live fruitfully for Jesus on their ‘Frontlines’. He will undoubtedly be both practical and inspirational.
Growing in Compassion (Mary Taylor)
Regional Minister, Mary, will give us an understanding of ‘Sanctuary Church’ in particular and how we might grow in compassionate engagement with others beyond the church more generally. Anyone who knows Mary and has experienced her own compassionate pastoral ministry or deep sense of concern for justice and care for others within and beyond the church, will know how helpful this will be.

Growing Visionary Leadership (Clive Burnard)
Our recently-appointed 'Regional Minister for Transition and Transformation’, Clive, will share some of the thinking from his doctoral research findings (about Transformational Servant Leadership in a Baptist Context), by drawing on his experience of training, mentoring and developing leaders and teams around the world, in order to help us grow and develop Visionary Leadership within our churches. Such leadership, under Father God, can bring the transformation and transition which we need if we are to see our churches become missional effective and growing in spiritual health and numerical size.

Clive adds: "Below you will find links to download a programme for the event, the notice of the AGM and the YBA Annual Report.
The booking deadline for Attendees is Friday, May 31st – and if you have any questions about booking places, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Debbie Gamble in the YBA office.

"Don't miss out on an inspirational opportunity to be encouraged, empowered and equipped and to shape the life and mission of our churches and Association. I hope you'll be there and look forward to meeting up with you - so book your places!"
